SCOOPSVILLE . . .

Sneed has learned the man who allegedly assaulted U.S. Rep. BobbyRush during a Fred Hampton press conference last month has beenarrested.

Rush, a former Black Panther, claims he was manhandled after hisendorsement at City Hall of a street being named after Hampton, aslain Black Panther leader.

Sneed hears Rush told Capitol Police in Washington, D.C., that hisassailant was a member of the New Black Panther Party. A Rushspokeswoman denies that.

The alleged assailant, Cleveland Valrey, 28, of Oakland, Calif.,was arrested at City Hall on Wednesday and charged with simplebattery. Valrey was arrested after Ald. Madeline Haithcock …
